Today in math we practiced area and perimeter. Here is a little game you can play at home. Remember to practice writing the addition sentence to find perimeter.
For the Santa Fe trail we mapped our journey. Traders had to decide if they would take the mountain route through Colorado or the dry route through Kansas and Oklahoma. Which route would you have taken? Why?
We talked about theme today. The overall idea in a story teaches us lessons as we read.
What is the idea in "A Bad Case of the Stripes?" What does Camilla learn? I like that she decides to be herself in the end, even if she does like lima beans? Do you? (I don't!) We also read "Albert" by Donna Jo Napoli. This wonderful story has another important theme--be brave!
We also worked on our super self stories. Remember, the idea is to tell about yourself and use exaggeration to show your strengths. We also played Boggle online to practice and look for phonetic patterns. Play against someone at home!
