Together As One
by Lori Rice
We started together slowly,
Unsure, a little bit afraid.
A small and simple smile,
A new group in fourth grade.
We trusted, respected, laughed, and learned
Slowly becoming a unit
With our strengths pulling us together.
The year flew by with many things
Trails, states, projects
Multiplication, division, fractions
Ice cream, melted crayon, eating rocks
Tic Tac Toe reading, stories, compound words.
We were ready and we knew it!
We celebrated our successes and even had angry verbs.
Now, it closes and we are all different but the same
Each taking a small part of the others,
Individually we leave together, sure, strong
Amazing possibility,
Taking each other with us
Into life!
Thank you for the honor of teaching your children. They are an amazing, creative, unique group of individuals and it has been my pleasure to spend the year with them.
