Fictional Reading Strategies
we have been talking about strategies readers use to comprehend and understand fictional books. Today we read Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge to notice "memory moments". These are flashbacks in the story that give us insight to the character and theme. Readers use these moments to better understand the character development and big idea in the story. Yesterday we talked about "Aha! moments". These are the insightful moments in stories when a character learns something about themselves or the world. During reading time at home, students can keep a journal of "Aha!" and "memory" moments. Here are the stories we have used to practice.
