In reading we have been talking about synthesizing. Synthesis allows students to make sense of their reading and comprehend text. Today we listened to "Duck and Cover". After the story the students selected a new setting to recreate the story. What would happen if they story takes place in the future? Past? Africa? Mars? Rewriting the story in a new setting allows the students to practice summarizing and put their own flavor on the project.
