Keep working on those math facts. Mastery and fluency in the facts increases accuracy with multiple digit multiplication. Students should also be able to quickly and accurately multiply numbers by 10s. This skill of multiplying by 10 important as students multiply 2-digit and 3-digit numbers. Progressing from area to expanded form and partial product allows students to understand and apply their knowledge of number sense to multiplication.
